Our Story

Several years ago, and somewhat by chance, I came across beeswax food wraps; and it was then that we as a family started to challenge our everyday use of single-use plastics. We quickly found that using beeswax wraps reduced our need for plastic film right down to zero, and that rippled over and inspired us to change our overall waste and food use habits.

For about a year, I made beeswax wraps part time as a side line hobby, and in early 2018, with the support of my amazing family, I took the plunge and embarked on making my creative outlet my full time gig.

From an intensive presence at various craft and handmade markets across Victoria, to an online store, and representation in a selection of handmade retail outlets, my hobby grew, and I haven’t looked back.

So when the lovely Natasha Kuperman – founder of BeeKeepa approached me to take over here as Head BeeKeepa, it felt like it was meant to be. We discovered that we shared a creativity and passion for everyday sustainable living, and our product and business ethos were well aligned.  Overall – it was a really good fit and I was more than happy to take over the reins and continue on the path we both found ourselves on.

BeeKeepa wraps continue to be handmade in Melbourne using high quality organic cottons, with most of the range sourced from suppliers who are GOTS* certified. Beeswax is sourced from a local beekeeper and is organic (by nature) and amazing quality. We use organic jojoba oil and the highest quality and food grade natural dammar resin.

We will continue to ensure, whenever possible, that our product labelling and packaging is plastic free. Our labels and paperwork is printed on 100% post-consumer waste paper, and our online orders are boxed without excess packaging or bubblewrap. For larger orders we endeavour to use recycled boxes and packaging (it’s amazing how many businesses are happy to give you their boxes for free!).

So this is me, Rebekah (Bek), and BeeKeepa wraps will continue to produce high quality, practical and ethical products, which you’ve come to know and love and I look forward to continuing on this journey with you.

* The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
The aim of the standard is to define world-wide recognised requirements that ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.
Textile processors and manufacturers are enabled to export their organic fabrics and garments with one certification accepted in all major markets.
